ABOUT
Mission Dance is a band of professional musicians who have rehearsed and played together from three to thirty years. We’re a “real band”, not a group of musicians pieced together for a single occasion. Founded in 1991, with a passion for entertaining and a commitment to exceptional business practices, Mission Dance today continues to merge talent and innovation. Across the tri-state area, we’re recognized by elite venues, event planners and industry vendors for providing extraordinary live entertainment for the most distinctive weddings and corporate events.
In addition to current music, we offer a wide selection of R&B, Motown, Classic Rock, Disco, Oldies, Fifties, Sinatra, Swing/ Big Band, Jazz, Blues, Country, Ballads, Latin, Ethnic, Broadway, and more. We perform live continuous music that will have your guests up and dancing, transforming any party into a high-energy event remembered for years to come. Mission Dance goes beyond the music – from initial planning to last minute needs, every detail is important to us. Our knowledge and expertise is second to none.
In Memoriam
Lee Deedmeyer, Jr.
Founding Member of Mission Dance
1957 – 2022
Born in Long Branch, New Jersey on April 1st, 1957, Lee lived most of his life in ‘his hometown’ of Freehold, New Jersey. After graduating from St. John Vianney in 1975, Lee began his musical career as a self-taught guitar player and singer. He was the founder of the legendary Jersey Shore bar band, ‘Bystander’. Lee later cut his hair, donned a tuxedo and formed ‘Mission Dance’, performing at thousands of parties and events right up until his untimely passing in April of 2022.
No one loved life more than Lee, and he lived every day to the absolute fullest! No one ever made more people smile. Lee had a very big heart, and shared the love with everyone, but nothing made him happier than being with his family. His greatest role was playing Pop to his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 42 years, Tara Carey Deedmeyer, and by his daughters, Briana Lee and Bart Countryman, Lindsey and Chris Coyne, Whitney and William Lawes, his grandchildren, Kieran, Charlotte, and Connor Lee Coyne, Liam Lawes, Cassie Countryman, Katrina and Alex Parkinson, and great grandson Maverick Parkinson.
Second only to his love of family was Lee’s love of music and performing. He lived and breathed music! Rock n Roll was in his blood. As lead guitarist, vocalist and MC for Mission Dance for over 30 years, his passion for performing was legendary, his energy extraordinary. Lee got the party started and delivered the magic EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.
Lee was more than our bandmate. He was friend and brother to us all. We miss him every day.
‘Take it easy, Lee’ – it was heaven on earth with you!
